What IS a Recruiter?

\Re*cruit*er\, Pronunciation: rikr'ootur
1. (n.) an official who enlists personnel for service
2. (n.) someone who supplies employees or members
\Re*cruit\, Pronunciation: ri-kroot
1. (v.) to restore or replenish
2. (v.) to enlist new members

Put simply, the role of a recruiter at Cambridge is to act as an extension of our clients - helping them to fill critical employment needs - facilitating growth and prosperity at our client companies. Of course, it isn't as simple as that and there are many steps in between. A good recruiter must sell themselves and the services they can provide to both their client and their candidate. They do this by first obtaining a crystal clear expectation from the client - i.e. determining the specific job responsibilities, identifying necessary skills required to successfully perform the responsibilities, as well as uncovering other relevant issues such as corporate culture and features and benefits of an organization. The next step is finding candidates who are qualified in all regards. A good recruiter must know as much as possible about a candidate and have the ability to develop a trusting relationship with this person who is placing their job search in your hands. Aside from assessing their professional qualifications, recruiters must learn everything that motivates their candidate. As you learn by careful and skillful listening to what each side desires, a successful match will result.
